a/c clutch froze up..is it worth just replacing the clutch or the whole compressor..if just the clutch.can it be done while still on the truck..thanks

I have the same problem on my BMW, but the compressor is at the bottom of the engine. I'm pretty sure it would need to come out. The Suburban compressor is easy to access, so I don't see why the clutch couldn't be replaced ON the truck. The question is "who will do it?" Most mechanics don't bother rebuilding them anymore, since replacement compressors are relatively cheap.
