A/C dripping in the floorboard

I have a 2001 Silverado 1500. I had a heater core put in it by a friend who is a mechanic and didn't charge me anything. Now the A/C leaks in the floor board when its on. I would feel bad about asking him to refix it for free. I looked in a manual and it looks like the drip tube is in in the front of the heater box which would mean the dash and heater box has to come out. I was REALLY REALLY hoping there was some sort of trick or quick fix to avoid pulling all that back out. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike
