Back when I owned my Eclipse there was a guy that used a Sharpie to draw designs on his car then clear over it. This inspired me to try too. Turns out I was pretty good at it! I've done everything from bikes to shoes in Sharpie. Here are a few pictures to show you guys what I mean.

Anybody else got any hobby similar to this?

That's some pretty cool stuff. About the closest I come is chiseling runic designs in knife blades I'm making and carving knotwork in leather.

How does it hold up to weather and driving under the clearcoat?

The knife carving sounds quite interesting! That's not my car so I couldn't tell you about the hold up on it...

I once helped some buddies paint their circa 1959 International pickup with 15 cans of continental blue spray paint. We did not even wash it. Looked better than when we started but I would not call it a work of art....LOL

yep...I definitely have to say that's pretty impressive! I'm lucky if I can take a picture w/out my hands slightly shaking...LOL, luckily the new technology helps with that.

I've never considered it. I have been asked to design tattoos before. I'm not too big on the idea of tattoos... It's cool for other people just not cool with me.

That's some great stuff. It looks like it takes a ton of time. I imagine the more times you do it though the faster you become.

Tatto art is fairly well compensated. You can take your hobby and make some real change, instead of waiting for Obama's change to filter down.

Nice work. There is a member on this site named killbucket he did some custom artwork to his bumpers and hood. I believe he used paint instead of sharpie tho.

Check out this link to his thread about doing the bumpers.

I remember seeing that a while back. It got me wondering what I could do to my truck but I changed my mind on that...

Talk someone else into letting you do it to their truck and see if that helps the design progression move forward. Once you start you will build a following
