Add DVD to Rear Entertainment System

My terminology is probably off, so please bear with tme.

I have a 2005 Silverado Crew Cab with the AM/FM/XM Single CD/Cassette Bose radio system. In the center console facing the back seat is the rear entertainment system which basically acts as a radio with headphone jacks. In the top of the roof toward the front of the cab is a cubby hole for sunglasses that has what I assume is the OnStar microphone attached to its side.

I want to buy a OEM overhead DVD player (Panasonic model often found on eBay) and replace the sunglasses holder with it. I'm assuming that would be the normal location for this device, but I may be wrong about that.

If my truck can handle this unit, and if I were to install this and remount the onStar mic, would I need anything other than a correct wiring harness to get the DVD audio to show up as a "Source" in the rear entertainment system?

Any response or redirection to a knowledgebase on this subject is appreciated.
