Alignment

I went to a shop today to check on an alignment.
They said they could do it but needed an appointment for next week sometime.

BUT, he also said if the truck has never been aligned before, the upper control
arms would need to be 'slotted' to adjust the camber, and that would cost
    another $100.

Can someone shed some light on this issue?

    TIA

Think I found some info on this:

I bet I'm not the first to be surprised with this.

They have what most people call knock outs. It takes a special tool (not a expensive tool) to get them out. $100.00 seems a little high. A person who removes them on a regular basic can remove them in about 15-30 minutes.
