I have a 2005 long bed, extended cab, 2-wheel drive Silverado HD with the DuraMax/Allison setup. I was thinking about installing sway bars for when I haul our 9.5 ft. Lance camper on our many road trips. The camper weighs 2722 lbs. when loaded with water and propane, and is probably pushing 3100-3200+ lbs when we load all our "stuff" inside. The only mods to the truck are a Banks intake, Firestone airbags, and oversized tires/rims (Bridgestone DURAVIS M700 LT265/70R17 tires on GMC 17"rims, instead of the stock 16" tires /rims). The airbags helped eliminate some of the side-to-side sway, and I was wondering if the sway bars would further reduce the sway? Don't get me wrong it's not swaying from side to side like a bowl of jello, I was just wondering if the bars would be worth putting on. My mechanic says most of the sway I'm feeling now is the result of the oversize tires and the flexing of the sidewalls, and that can never be totally eliminated.. I have no idea what's out there, and if they offer front and rear bars, would you do both front and rear? Thanks..
