I have just installed a predator programmer and saw very little difference in performance. Has anyone else done this? It seemed to accellerate in the higher rpm's a little quicker but not $300 worth of gain. Did I do something wrong?

Is your truck a gasser or diesel?

    DiabloSport Predator Experiences

I am looking at my next investment being my first performance upgrade - a programmer. As of now, I am leaning toward the DiabloSport Predator. It seems like a good unit, and I like the fact that it can program my truck to run on E85 fuel (if Alberta ever gets an E85 station). I just want to see if anyone has any experience with the Predator or suggestions before I go shell out $400+ (Canadian) for this unit. Thanks.

I know there are already threads about these things, but the more recent, the better.

You really don't gain a whole lot from handhelds....unless you have a diesel. We are talking gains, for gas engines, of about 10 HP at max.

10hp is better than nothing but if you spend too much it may be dissappointing

As Ive posted before I love my Diablo because of all the fine tuning you can do yourself. You have to take the time to play with it but its fun. I gave cascott325 some tuning tips with his and he says hes happy with the mods. Ive tried the other programmers and even custom tunes but I like the Diablo best.

The newer Diablo Predators are internet upgradable and hold up to 5 custom tunes. Shop around your local and mail order Diablo tuners for best price and tunes.

I think im going to go with the diablo - but I'll wait until the contest is over (in case i win that programmer). And my budget is a bit tight. I turn 16 and will start actually driving in 2 weeks - gas and insurance. yay. and i just spent $140 on detailing supplies today. So, all in time.

I told this to someone else about diablo, it is more then just reprogramming to switch to E85, there is at the minimum different gaskets required as the higher alcohol content will destroy the standard gaskets on the engine, and there is a diffeence for injectors. There are companies that will sell packages to upgrade for E85 and they are around $1000.

I will keep that in mind. I wouldn't go to that extent as soon (if at all with a truck i paid $1500 for) because as of right now, we have NO ethanol stations in Edmonton:grrrrrr:. And yet we have tons of flexfuel vehicles. why sell the option if you can't use it anyway?

I will keep anything flexfuel in mind for the future when our waste-to-ethanol plant (supposedly on a 25 year contract) is finally built.

What would those tuning tips be if I may ask. Have a predator on a 2007 gmc sierra NBS..

E85 is a joke, even if I had a flex fuel truck I wouldn't put that crap in the gas tank! We have flex fuel trucks at work and when gas was $4.00 a gallon we were pushed to use it. But they run like crap on it and get horrible gas mileage. I don't get why people think it is so great.

I wanted to breathe some life back into this topic as it's clearly been searched for a lot and read a lot. Anyone want to continue on with this conversation about Diablosport?

sure.. what do ya wanna stir up? hahaha...

get the Trinity... more features, better data logging, sd card support, TCM support update was just released for it for the T43 tcm module for the 6-speed autos.. next will be the T42 tcm module support for the 4-speed autos... also, a future update is planned/in the works to have multiple vehicle support for it, so that you will be able to tune more than just one vehicle at a time with it....

PLUS, you can get full custom tuning done for your truck/trinity by a diablosport CMR custom tuner, such as myself.... ;-)

I've got the predator handheld right now. Can you get tunes offline for it?

no.. custom tunes have to be made from copies of your tune files... the tunes are locked to a vehicles VIN number and engine calibration ID's... can't share custom tune files....
