VER URGENT!!! NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DRIVESHAFT LENGTHS!! Are there different driveshaft lengths from 2500 to 3500, or extended cab, to crew cab, or 8 foot box versus a 6 foot box, or are all the driveshaft lengths the same; and simply the difference in length, truck to truck, compensated for in the mating shaft.

    talk to me

I did a quick search on Autotrader for model specs for some late '90's OBS Chevy's and saw at least two different wheelbase lengths. So I expect those will use different length driveshafts.

2WD tends to use longer (rear) driveshafts than 4wd because of the transfer case.

Wheelbase can change from year to year, so the driveshaft lengths will likely also change.

I expect any driveline shop would want to measure the driveshaft before replacing it. If you are trying to replace the driveshaft, I'd probably get under and measure the existing one (or measure the spot it fits in if the shaft is unmeasurable) before seeking a replacement.

You didn't specify why you need to know this information, or what year/engine/transmission/etc. your truck is. We could probably give a more specific response if we had more specific information.

i did a fast lookup and came across this on many different sites. "We Have 17 Items for Chevy Driveshaft In-Stock" so yes there are different size shafts for the chevy trucks....mike
