My name is Jon, and after a 10 year trip through several different brands, I am back in a Chevy!

I was raised on Chevy, and my first car was actually a 1976 Chevy Nova that wouldn't start. I had to have it towed to my high school, where I rebuilt the engine myself (turning that 350 into a 383 was FUN)... but then after I went into the Navy, I got turned around somehow. It wasn't practical to drive my Nova from Southern California to Illinoise... so I bought a crappy used Toyota Carola so that I could get around while I was in Great Lakes for almost a year. Once I was home (stationed in San Diego), a friend of mine got me a good deal on a new Ford Ranger... but it just wasn't what I wanted. Three years after I bought that little junker, I traded it in for what I thought at the time was going to be a decent vehicle (F-150), but again, I just wasn't happy. The next vehicle in the line was a piece of crap Honda Civic, that I only drove for a year.

After my divorce was finalized, I bought a 2010 Subaru Impreza... but the insurance payments were killing me, so I sold that and bought a BEAUTIFUL 1994 Chevy Suburban K1500. I don't have the window sticker, but I am sure that when it was manufactured, this truck was pretty close to fully loaded. I haven't even had it for a month yet, but I LOVE this truck! I finally have something large enough to cart around the whole family (fiance, 4 boys and a dog). So what if I am only getting 10.5 mpg... it is a BLAST to drive, and more importantly... I'm back to my roots!

Welcome to the Club, Jon. That's why we leave the light on...

We had a Camry, too, but outgrew that real fast. From here on out, everything you own will be compared to that Burb.

    Enjoy!

I ended up with my 98 Suburban 2wd-for pretty much the same reason- $$-
    Broke-medical debt-so sold 2003 Honda Pilot(good vehicle no complaints) bought a $2950 Suburban
It has been a winner-get great hy FE(20-21 MPG- but 12-13 city) and it has a lot more room for road trips or evacuations
We have 1-2 dogs 4 cats 3 adults-and when my wife and I travel we bring alond at least one long legged greyhound
And we sleep in the Suburban at rest stops(saves on motels)
Yeah lot to be said for Suburbans

Welcome back to where the pastures are greener. 7 out of 11 vehicles I've owned were Chevy or GMC and 7/11 were trucks. I traded in my Audi on 1/27/12 for my current '11 Silverado and am also so happy to be back in a Chevy let alone a Chevy truck :great:
K1500 are pretty cool as for the gas mileage just put it in neutral when going down hill :)

I have been a member of quite a few forums, several of which I was able to rise up to the ranks of moderator, super moderator, and even assistant admin on one site... and I can honestly say that this is the first forum where an 'introduction' threat was actually replied to!!!

So far, I LOVE this truck. I made this purchase because my fiance and I started trying to work Dave Ramsey's plan... so the $17,000 Impreza was replaced by my 'beater' Suburban. I feel a little guilty, because Dave Ramsey talks about how you should be driving this 'piece of junk car'... but I LOVE this thing!!! I don't really know that much about the mods on this truck (if any), but I do enjoy the fact that my engine will set off car alarms at 5:00 in the morning on my way out of the driveway.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome, and I look forward to actually making a contribution to this site. Thanks again!!!
