i have a 2010 silverado and I'm looking for the best exhaust? Just tell me what you think.
I love the sound of my Flowmaster 40 series!
My buddy got the Gibson Super Truck on his 2010 5.3 and loves the sound. The only problem is crusing at highway speeds it sounds like an old tractor.
Go to youtube or any other video posting site and type in "2010 Silverado Exhaust" and you will pull up videos of people with different exhausts/mufflers. You can get an idea of the sound you'd like on your truck.
We can not tell you what you would like on your truck and each muffler is different
Also make sure you get a quality shop to weld it on and not clamp it
X2 on SmokeU's comment. Just listening to them on the internet doesn't really help that much. A lot of times the sound quality isn't very good due to the camera that was used or the speakers you are listening to.
I would listen to trucks around you and if you here one you like ask the owner what he has. Everybody likes something differant. I have Magnaflows on our trucks and like them.
Do you think I want a cat back exhaust or just muffler? Everyone I ever knew only has true dual straight pipe welded on with no mufflers haha. Loud but not for a new truck! What are some good catback systems?
It’s all a bought how much money you want to spent are you planning on installing headers at later date? If so you might want to consider true duels with 2 mufflers if not then you can go with a muffler 3” in and two 2 ½” out let for duel tail pips. I like the Flow Master 40 sound but every one has there own preference.
Isn't there some sort of issue with the Active Fuel Management making some systems sound like tin cans? I don't think that I would want to disable the system so is there an exhaust system available that would sound good when the AFM kicks to 4 cylinders?
I have also heard that flowmaster is getting rid of there supper 40 series and maybe the 44, that's why they have not re patented there design and everyone is using it now
I have the 40 series flow master on my 2010 GMC Sierra. I love the way it sounds. When the AFM kicks in it does have a wierd sound to it, almost sounds like a boat motor to me. Overall I am very satisfied with it.
you might want to try the borla dual exhaust with headers i got that in mine and my truck sounds very familiar to this video check it out (i just havent got around to put pictures and videos of it) soon i will though
How much you pay? I can't find it under 700 or so.
i got for 715 and installed it myself but i sure dont regret it paying each and every penny.
so far ive had it on for about 3 days now and ive gotten 5 comments from random people at the gas station and street. it sounds so nice and deep and rumbly at the same time but not over exagerated. even my neighboor that has a 2007 silverado 2500hd told me he likes how my exhaust sounds compare to his flowmasters super 44's.
on top of that its stainless steal with a million mile warranty. you just got to love it.. soon il post a video
Does anyone know what the dimmensions are for a 2010 Silverado 5.3L muffler? I want to just replace the muffler and keep the factory pipes. What is the inches in and inches out? And what would be the best option for this, there is the 40 series, Super 44 and the Super 40...I am not sure which one is designed for our trucks. Thanks again
I have an '03 Chevy ext cab with a 5.3l and have Borla Cat back on it and like the sound of it and the 304 SST and warranty is great. My BIL has an '05 GMC ext cab with a 5.3l and has Magnaflow and his is way louder than mine. I am looking at Long Tube Headers now not for sound but HP and any added sound will help. Borla gave me a good boost in HP on a RW Dyno too. Just depends on what you want.
I like the way the Flowmasters sound, not to exaggerated in my opinion. look at it on youtube, there are plenty Silverado w/flowmaster exhaust videos on there.
I have heard good things about borla, but when I talk about it with people they always talk bad about it, but they don't know anyone who has one. Does flowmaster make a cat-back for my truck?
Just installed a Dynomax #39495 system today, and am really impressed with both the quality and sound. No drone or motor boat sound when crusing. The system runs around $330 or just the Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded #17233 muffler runs about $120. Summit, Jeg's, or the usual retailers should have either.
And they DO sound good!
