A graphical explanation of why I don't recommend owning a boat:

Your point is very valid, but I need a way to keep from passing any inheritance on to my daughter and this method works better than others.

You must not like your daughter! Slot machines work well for that, too, you know ... and they have a chance of return. :)

Funny you should say that, I plan on attempting to reduce my net worth at at a Casino in Oklahoma later today.
No I dont dislike my daughter, I just dont care to become a supporter of her wasteful financial habits.

Well just let me know if you need some assistance finding a good home for your truck after you're gone. I think I know a guy who would give it a lot of TLC. *whistles innocently* Hopefully you don't need to think about that for a long, long time, though.

    Good luck at the casino!

Then clearly you didn't read all of it. tbplus10 indicated that buying a boat was a good way to keep from passing inheritance onward. I pointed out that slot machines do the same thing AND they have a chance of return. tbplus10 then indicated there was an upcoming casino visit. And what came next was my reply to that.

So there's the tie -- tangential but definitely related. Perhaps you should actually, you know, read the thread if you're going to make such remarks in the future.

id go mercury. And I've never had a major issue with a boat and I drive em hard. Just take good care of it and it'll last forever. My neighbor at the lake owns. Our old 90 chapperral and they only thing replaced on it has been battery's. just buy a good boat and it'll last. At least for my family they are not money pits

A boat will last as long as you want it too if you treat it right. I like yamaha and I have it on our boat for 12 years in saltwater and never had work on it minus tune ups. But what you have to know is you don't always have to be at full throttle redlining the engine. Same as a car/truck you wouldn't do that to a vehicle. A boat can be a money pit if you decide to go cheap, you get what you pay for like anything else.
