Just want to put a PSA (Public Service Announcement) out there for all Captiva's.

As you may have heard that I had a transmission shifting issues with my Captiva LT V6.

Under closer inspection, The dealership discovered that AVIS rental cars had put some kind of tune or something on my ECU.

After paying $118 or so to get my ECU Re-Mapped, everything has been peachy. So I definitely encourage all of you to get your ECU's checked out.

I take it your vehicle was a previous rental unit?
If I remember correctly you brought the vehicle to a dealer before for issues, they didnt hook it up and read the computer? A scan shouldve warned them there were changes made, and a little curiosity and dilligence wouldve led them to suspect they needed to check check the ecu program.
Dont mark me on this but it sounds like the lazy tech strikes again.

Yeah. They should have probably caught that and flashed it back to factory.

The only thing I had brought it to the dealership for before the transmission issues was to get the front license plate bracket put on.

And it was a previous rental car. Even still had the GPS tracker in it.

Just another reason to take a pre-owned vehicle to a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection.
