Question on a cargo light bulb!! According to the book for my 77 K10 truck, the replacement bulb for my cargo light is 1142. Went to the local parts store for a bulb and found out that this bulb is a 6 volt bulb. Does not make much sense on a 12 volt system. How long can that bulb last??

The 1142 in my 78's cargo lamp is for a 12 volt system, so I'm not sure how you came up with the 6 volt information. If you put a 6 volt light in a 12 volt system, it will be very bright for a very short time.:glasses:

Thats what I figured, the auto parts store told me it was 6 volt and it has a 6v on the side
