charging problem

    i have a 1990 k1500 2wd with a 350. I put a new alternator on and i still have a low reading gauge. I put a new batt. In and still same thing. Its only reading about 9-10. It seems to only do this when its cold.i had the alt. Bench tested and its fine.when its on the truck it tests bad. Anyone have any ideas

    bad ground and or bad connection wires. you did use a volt meter to rule out the guage right?.....mike
