Clunk clunk?

    Hey guys,

2003 Burb...when I turn and drive over bumps in the road...I feel thru the steering wheel clunking. Is this normal? I hope not.

Either way I had it checked out - the steering column was lose...mechanic said the steering gear box had excessive movement. It was replaced. Clunking still there.

The front right axle boot (?) is leaking and in need of replacement. Would this be the cause?

I guess the clunking is somewhat audible (not really) more of feeling it thru the steering wheel. It almost makes the burb feel sloppy when steering - but not too bad. I go over pot holes and it feels like the wheel bounces excessively?

I think I had the ball joints inspected and then (8 months ago) was told things seem fine there.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

sounds like it may be the steering intermediate shaft, there is a updated version of it but yo could pull it apart and lube it your self and that seems to fix if for a while

Thats a common problem with the chevy's intermediate steering shaft. Theres a thread on this site somewhere on how to fix it, you just have to find it.

also check your CV joints in the front end, and yes that leak does not help. get the seal replaced
