Common problem?

On my '04 Silverado I notice that in the lower gears (1,2,3) that shifting can some times hesitate or be a little rough, like if I accelerate through a turn or just general driving - but not all the time. Trans fluid just flushed, new oil etc. Has the common "thunk" problem with the slip yoke. Is this normal in these trucks due to the lash in the gear design? Or should I look at maybe getting a new trans? If I need to, how much does a new trans usually cost?
