Do I want a steering damper (stabilizer)?

So, my 2004 2500 'burb has the factory mounts for a steering damper but there's no damper installed.

Should I care? Should I install one?

I tow a big trailer and venture off-road from time to time but due to advancing age and lightness of wallet no longer go playing in the rocks and mud on purpose.

    I have stock-sized tires, 245-75/16, Michelin LTX A/Ts.
