Engine shudders or misfires on acceleration

Discussion in 'General Chevy & GM Tech Questions' started by SilveradoDreamer, Jul 5, 2013.

  1. 1992 Chevy C1500, 5.7L V8, 700R4, TBI. Recently replaced Ignition Control Module that was tested and shown defective, reluctor(pickup) tested ok, Ign coil tested ok. Also replaced Cap and Rotor, old ones looked burned on contacts.

New problem: Engine shudders while accelerating under load, shudder more pronounced with AC on. Prior to ICM & cap und rotor replacement, engine had smooth and steady acceleration. All vacuum hoses connected. Firing order ok. All fluids ok. No bad codes.
Is it possible to incorrectly install ICM, distributor cap or rotor?? Thinking I goofed somewhere....

    Any ideas?

I would check your wires. You may not have one on all the way or not have them all in the correct place.
  3. Thanks. Decided to replace the wires, will report back with an uodate....
