I bought few months back a used Envoy 2003 with 26000 mileage. It produces a knock sound in the morning or when the engine is cold till the engine becomes hot. I checked with a mechanic and he told me that I have to change the oil pump as this is the sound of guides.

Can someone advise me is it correct or it has another problem.

    Thanks. Mujtaba.

It could be the pump, try using some seafoam in the oil or lucas oil products, it could be just gummed up. if it is the pump, you either have to pull the motor out, or will have to take apart part of the drivetrain (especially for 4wd) and possibly some suspension to get the oil pan off to get to the oil pump. And being that your Envoy only has 26000 miles on it, at the least it gets drivin seldomly or short trips and could have hurt something. Or it sat for a long time and the oil wasnt able to properly lubricate on a start up.
