front diff axel bearing?

I may have asked this before but here goes.
I have a roaring in the front end that I am 99% sure is coming from the front drivers side axel where it enters the differential.
I have a repair book that does not cover this area.
My question is, is it necessary to disassemble the differential to replace this bearing and seal?
