Don't be confused. GM is not turning it's back on light duty full-sized pick-ups. They just aren't going to be building less capable full-sized trucks. Instead they will be offering the new Colorado to provide a truck for those who don't need a traditional full-sized truck with it's full-sized capabilities. What was spelled out in the article was that GM will still be providing real trucks for people who need a truck to earn a living, and will also offer the new Colorado for those who don't need the traditional light duty full-sized truck for their job.

This in turn provides a slightly smaller, hopefully considerably more efficient and affordable alternative for those of us who do not need the capabilities of the Silverado/Sierra while still allowing us to get a capable and useful truck. Hopefully this new choice won't be only provided with anemic, underwhelming engine choices.
