Heater Hose

In reading the Trailblazer service manual, I note that replacement of the outlet heater hose requires removal of the transmission. Since hoses are not a warranty item, this will be a big ticket repair. I'm curious if anyone has had the need to change the outlet heater hose and if it really entails removal of the transmission. It's awfully odd to design such a process for the replacement of a hose that is subject to wear and replacement.

I've never heard of anyone having to remove the heater hoses as of yet. I can't imagine a replacment part like a heater hose having to have the tranny dropped though.
