    Hey guys, new to the forum here.

    Just acquired this 99 GMC Surburban k1500 SLT the loaded version.

    Why did I get it?
    You know to haul this huge family of mine, five kids, adorable wife and possibly a camper/boat in the future to the river banks of the Ohio near Hanover, Indiana.
    Its the cleanest used vehicle ive own yet and my first GMC.

    Within the first 24hrs of ownership;

    First to service, the tires were replaced with some Cooper Discoverys "PO had some bald eload tires on there", now the ride is nice and smooth on fairly good pavement.

    Upper ball joint on the drivers side. Purchased what I thought was the complete upper control arm with ball joint but of course its for some other model.
    Ended up just replacing the ball joint itself, grinding the rivets and pressing out the remainer of the rivets with my HF press.
    Replaced fuse for the dash/tail lights "PO had a 15amp that popped when it clearly states a 20 amp" :rules:.
    After some researching and figuring out the dash/tail lights were on the same circuit found the fuse and oh sweet easy fix.

    Floor boards at rust free the rails and lower components are starting to show the salt belt wear.

    All in all Im happy with only 141k miles and counting, should get thru the winter in the country just fine.

    Welcome! I used to live in Michigan (now Georgia) and worked for GM...crazy, I had a 99 GMC Suburban SLT 4x4, (I leased it), it was white with burgandy interior.... loved that truck...looked for one similar many times since with that color combo to purchase. The only thing I wished different, I had the split doors on rear instead of the gate/hatch. With the split doors, I didn't have a rear defrost which sucked in Michigan winters.

    Nice! I didn't get that option...I remember wishing I had it..or at least wipers (not possible with the split doors). It's good to know GM made rear defrost though...I must have just had a bonehead moment when getting it and never noticed until come winter time! I will have to see if I can find pictures of my old Suburban...I remember putting new tires and wheels and stepbars on it within a few weeks...really made it pop! I will have to dig thru photographs, as this was before my 1st digital camera, LOL!

    Ran into my first major problem. The passlock system is failing! errrr....

    Got some new gear on it as far as a new drivers side interior door handle, serpentine belt, plugs, air filter, water and steering pump.
