Help changing distributer and cap on 90' 350

    Hey im trying to find out how to change my distributer on my 1990 Chevy Suburban 1500 w/ 350 motor. Does anyone know how to change it?

    Changing it is easy, remove the cap, unplug the wires from the distributor, take the distributor hold down clamp off and make a note of where the rotor is pointing before pulling the old distributor. Install the new distributor in reverse. Note that the rotor will turn as it meshes with the cam gear. Make sure the base ring on the distributor is flush when it is re installed. The bottom of the distributor shaft has to mate with the oil pump rod, if not mated, the ring on the shaft of the distributor will not be flush with the engine block. Also unless the bearings in the distributor are shot or the gear is worn or bad, you may just need a new Dist module which attaches inside with two screws. They only cost about $30.00. Be sure to use the heat transfer grease that come with the new part. It is the black part that the wire connect to.
