HELP! I need advise om how to change plug wires on a 2001 suburban 5.3 1500 4 by 4. There is a metal cylinder around the wire, I tried pulling the old wire through it but it is not releasing. Is the metal cylinder threaded to something? The wires are original to the vehicle, 104.000 miles. Please advise!

Thanks you very much fellow members!!

that is just a heat shield that slips over the boot, best way to do it is to get a pair of spark plug wire pliers and twist back and forth then pull and they usually come loose
