How to install a used Delco in 2003 Suburban?

    Hi,

My OEM Delco CD changer died recently. I found a used one on ebay, but I was told the new unit needs to be "programmed" with my VIN number before it would work. I called a Chevy dealer, and the tech said all I need is the 4-digit code for the new unit, and key it in when first turning it on. He said the original owner should have received a card in his owners manual with the number (my manual has no card, but the manual does say a dealer has to do the job). I called a second repair shop (non-dealer), and they said a dealer has to "flash" the new unit, and it would probably cost an hour of labor.

    Anybody have experience with this?

    Thanks!

    Scott
