I was thinking in the same aria as Blazer454. Also are you speakers in it stock or something someone put in. I was thinking alarm, crossover, or amplifier of some sort.

I would agree, alarm, amp, crossover. Could it be a brake controller?

How many wires (and size) are there hooked up to it? It could be a number of aftermarket items. Also I noticed a rei/knob assembly above your emergency brake pedal. Is that something you did or a previous owner? and is it connected to the mystery unit?

I think you guys are right. There are many clipped and disconected wires under the dash and I think the previous owner had something hooked up that he took out when he sold it. The part is not a chevy part and the wires going into it are covered with electrical tape so it's a aftermarket thing. I just zipp tied it up under the dash and now it's quiet.

Hey guys, I finally found out what that black finned box is, it's the electric eye for the daytime driving lights. So I disconected it for the lights don't work anyway and now the light on the dash that shows them on is finally gone.
