    Hi all. I have a '99 Silverado that is rusting very badly on the bottom. It is time to get a different truck.

    I am looking for a long suburban with a double door rear doors, not the hatch with window that opens, but with left & right doors.

    What was the last year Chevy offered those doors on Suburbans?

    I don't know the range of year/models that offered the barn doors, but I was looking at a 99 K2500 with a big block yesterday that was just so sweet and it had barn doors.

    The reason the Silverado is rusting underneath, it was kept in a tent for 3 years. Parking a hot truck in a tent moisture from the ground would condense on the underside. This mess started and can't be stopped. I have had the brake lines rusted through and have been replaced. the rotors & calipers replaced twice. The bolts on the springs won't break loose, it's a f iin mess under there.

    The body however being galvanized is perfect.

    Huh, I've never heard of that. What do you mean by a tent? Like a truck-shelter type of portable garage unit? What part of the country, BTW?>

    I noticed much rust on my burb, since I had it in a portable garage.

    Yup, just like the one the motor home is in. The things trap moisture. As the vehicle inside heats and cools from nite to day, it will wick moisture from the ground. A hard, expensive lesson learned the hard way. Try to protect a 30K investment with a $300 garage, didn't work. Never again.

    Why the h!-- didn't GM treat the underside metal to at least slow down it's rusting. Why did they tell me I didn't need undercoating. It's to late now.
