isn't that boiling?? mine reaches 210 once warmed up. is that normal?? my 98 chevy is more like 150.
Antifreeze and a pressurized cooling system raises the boiling point of water.
Here is a chart of the boiling point for anti-freeze/water mixes.
Add a pressure cap on the radiator and with a 70/30 antifreeze mix the boiling point rises closer to 270.
210 is not a problem. If you want a lower idle temp you could try a 160 or 180 deg tstat.
Be advised that emission equipment is designed to operate at higher temps so a lower temp tstat may cause other symptoms.
210 is the normal operating temp.
Yeah i think thats normal for the new trucks. Both my buddies denali and silverado are right at 210 when i drive them about, and there both 07+ so i'd say its normal. And my silverado stays around 180-190 usually.
this is a slight change in subject but how hot is too hot for the transmission?
