This is an old thread, but isn't Cat out of the medium-duty business as well?

Isuzu only shared engineering information on the Engines, and then sold the engines that were built to Isuzu for a lot of the medium and even heavy trucks they sold. GM still builds the engines, and has improved the design many times over. We can thank Isuzu for helping GM make some of the most quiet, most fuel efficient and most environmentally friendly diesel engines on the planet. But it's time to move on.

Cat has virtually no modern technology in it's engines. I'd hate to see GM go there.

I think they're completely out of the on-road engine business now...... Didn't want to have to deal with emission crap anymore....

Cat's not totally out of the on-road game. I thought I had heard something about their own truck, found this!
