Left turn signal has a mind of its own

For the past two weeks my left turn signal either flashes very quickly or at the normal rate. Sometime at a long stop light it will start to blick fast and then slow down and then speed up, this only happens with the left turn signal. I've replaced most of the taillight and turn signal bulbs, but no luck. I have not replaced the the flasher unit yet. Any ideas??

    Merry Christmas to All.

I had a similar problem, and thought it was the bulbs too. however it turned out to be the wiring harness. some of the prongs weren't clamping the bulb properly so the bulb would wiggle loose sometimes and cause my flasher to blink really quickly. when id re-seat the bulb it would work fine until normal driving and bumps knocked it loose again. id check out your harness

im going to agree with that over time the wiring/harness can loosen and not function properly id check that before anything else

Thanks for the info. I will take a look at the harness this weekend.
