I got a new locking cap for my 2008 Silverado Z71 and I want to know how to retain the "cap leash" It looks like their is a ring on the factory cap that holds the leash on I couldent spin it off with my hands any ideas before I take a screwdriver and pry it off lol?

Thats really the only way i would try adding a touch of grease to help lubricate it and that will also aid in removal....

I just used a flat screwdriver it worked nicely by gently prying away, but the new cap will not allow the ring to attach correctly so Just going to have to not use it
