My truck is Idling at high RPMs

Just today my truck started idling at high RPMs, high enough to accelerate the truck in first gear. The truck is a 90 k1500 with a 350, 5 speed, 4wd. When the truck is in neutral, the shift light sometimes stays on also. I feel like it's some kind of a sensor issue somewhere. One last piece of info-if I shut the truck off and restart it returns to normal idle.
    Thanks guys
