I just bought an 04 GMC 2500 6.0 V8. Its my first gmc/chevy and I was just curious if there are any gas saving products worth buying. yeah I know its kind of a dumb question but just wondering. thanks

    I have a 2005 silverado ss with a LQ9 6.0

I got a custom tune by Wheatley and my MPG went way up

Get a tune, cai and a good exhaust and see what it goes up too

Also change ALL the fluids to synthtics and go light with the gas pedal.

Performance mods for better MPGs are a double-edged sword; a tune, cai, long-tube headers, and cat-back exhaust can help with gas mileage because there are less restrictions and a tune helps dial in your engine, but with those mods you will have the need to put the pedal to the floor a lot more so you can feel the power and hear the noise. If you can keep your foot out of the gas, then you will be fine, but good luck on that :great:

X2 on everything above. In addition, get all the extra weight/junk out of it that you don't need everyday, (weight kills mpg) keep your tires inflated to the tire manufacturers specs, make sure your air filter is clean & in no way restricted, jack it up & make sure you don't have any brakes dragging. If you have extra money, consider putting a front air dam on it. Making the air go around it where it's smooth, is way more efficient aerodynamically than having it go under where it catches on every irregularity of the frame & suspension. Also if you have a bug shield on it & can live without it, take it off.

X3 on everybody's suggestions. My recommendation is look at the ScanGauge II along with the techniques you will find at

Thanks for everything. The first things I was looking to do to it was a CAI and leveling kit. Have any of you tried Banks I haven't but it looks pretty good performance wise? and I've been looking for leveling kit but all I can find are the ones where it just raises' the torsion bar?

Gale Banks' stuff is good. My buddy got all Banks stuff for his & they're right at the top of the heap. They spend more $$$ on R&D than anybody.
Leveling your truck is going to hurt your mpg for the same reason that an air dam would help it, but go ahead cuz we ALL do it :)

Seems like the Smart Car is the way to go.

The webmaster of this site, Steve, has been pushing for these since last year.

Way better mileage than the 2500HD.
