Need Help on a Weird Noise.

    Ok driving the truck its a 98 GMC K1500 4wd..it will make this clunk noise when shifting it seems to happen from the trans area..U-joints are new..all mounts look good..Its just a clunk clunk almost like the convertor is looking up then un locking...But it shakes the truck when it does this...And here is the weird thing it doesnt do it all the time...somedays more then others then somedays it doesnt do it at all...Any help would be great thanks....

    I wonder if it could be the bushing in the transfercase/trans nose come. The the slip yoke slides into the trans. Crawl under and push up on the drive shaft near the trans to see if you can duplicate the noise. My 03 yukon was making a similar noise at shifts randomly and it turned out that the bushing was bad.
