I have a '98 GMC 2500 Sierra. My tires are 315/75/16's. What size wheel...(width, backspace...if any) do you folks suggest? Truck has a 3 inch body lift too. Thanks for any advice. I believe the wheels on it now are a 6 or 7 inch, and the tires just don't look like they're making full contact on the road with 40lbs. of air.

If you have stock rims they are either 7 or 7.5 in width. I don't believe (I may be wrong) that you can go wider than 8 or 8.5 at the max on 16in rims, even aftermarket. The only thing wider that I have personally seen wider than this is on drag wheels. In order to go wider on rims, i would suggest either an 18 or even 19" aftermarket rim. As far as more contact patch with ur 315's, i would lower the air pressure to no higher than 30-32psi at the absolute max. When you raise the air pressure of the tire, it starts physically raising from the center during rotation. That is why over overinflated tires will wear more in the center than on the outer surfaces.
