I am replacing my neutral safety switch because it is bad. I've removed 3 nuts including the one on the neutral safety switch but I can't figure out how to take off the shift linkage to get the neutral safety switch off. Is there some sort of trick to removing it? Do I need to be in a certain gear?

    the vehicle is a 99 suburban. 5.7L 4l60e

figured it out. The transmission needs to be in the neutral position for the linkage to come free. Thanks...
