Well I was driving down the road Sat going to the school started to slow down and was hit in the rear by a Ford Explorer doing around 50+, he never hit the brakes.

He said he was looking in the rearview mirror and wasnt paying attention!

When he struck us the driver seat broke in two and left me laying back with no way to see, but I got up in time to safely stop the vehicle.
The explorers ran up on the side walk where the kids were standing for the carwash a few minutes prior. They said he would have pinned them on the raised flower beds and killed them had they just not moved.

This is where I need some help

Has anyone else heard of a catastrophic seat failure before?

Family ok whiplash all the way around my back hurts so far so good.
Thank God we were in a well made vehicle if we had been in a car we prob would have been run over cause of the oversize tires.

The explorer lost vs the suburban the rear bumper did like a knife a pealed from above the tire to the firewall off or up. estimate was 8000+

Suburban lost tailgate, bumper and tail light wrinkle in quarter panel.
    estimate 3000

Another note I have to go to court for my tails they stated they were illiegal since they did not light up red, but if you look at the gallery they do so I will let you know how that goes.

Wow! Glad to hear that you're ok. As far as the seat goes, I have heard of it before. The seat tracks can break right next to the ears where they bolt to the floor. The seat recliner mechanism can break, and the seat back can bend. Hope it all works out for ya.

Sorry to hear about your accident! I hope that everyone is not seriously hurt.

My wife was in a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire 4-door about 2 1/2 years ago (6 months pregnant) when she was hit by what we think was an illegal immigrant (no english, no license, no insurance, etc.) Anyhow, she was hit from behind at about 30-35?? and her seat broke. It's my thought that they're designed to do that to absorb some energy to help prevent whiplash. That's my guess.
