    justgm,
Welcome to the forum! As Customer Service Representatives, we may be a little limited in the technical troubleshooting tips we can provide. Hopefully other members of the community will jump on here to help you out soon if you're hoping to resolve this without visiting a dealership.

Just so we can better understand what resources to check, are you talking about a remote starter at all?

no i do not have remote start. it does have the tap ignition thing where you just tap the key and it starts.

    justgm,

Have you considered having your starting issues diagnosed at your local GM dealership?

It could be a starter relay issue or the starter itself. Hearing it clunk indicates to me that the solenoid is kicking the gear out but, the starter motor is not spinning. Sometimes when they start to go bad heat can be an issue. That could be why it only happens when it is warm. I would pull the starter, take it to a parts store and have it checked.
