doing my first major changes to my 2000 chevy. its been in the family for 10 years and i have had it for 6 of them. i just got back from my 2nd deployment and started hearing an exhaust leak. started looking around to see what was up just to find the bolts on the factory exhaust had rusted off. so i have ordered some Edelbrock Ceramic Coating Shorty Headers, heat wrap to go on them, and a Granatelli programmer. I'm wanting a cold ait intake but im not wanting to spend the $350 on a K&N kit. spectra makes one as well for a lot less but i have heard that the metal tube doesn't help much. would love to hear back on that and hope to get lots of help as i keep this truck on the road for much longer. also i hate the auto it has does anyone know of a good kit to swap for a manual trans?

    Welcome to the club!

You might not need the heat wrap for the headers themselves, the ceramic coating is an excellent insulator and not heat distributor. They have the spark plug boots that are heat resistant if your worried about that, but I am sure that you will be happy with your headers.

I had a K&N 77 series intake on my last truck, and I hated the metal intake but everyone else says they love them. All I can say is that it made my truck back fire horribly, and it ran about 20 degrees hotter.
