The under the hood lights did not use a mercury switch, but a slide weight.
They used to.. Guess it's just GM going cheap....
This is the Longshot lighting kit for 30 bucks, hard to get anything brighter or cheaper or nicer looking!
My 95 had one of those. It was nice. You could take it to any part of the truck you were working on or another vehicle parked nearby
So this uses a switch that turns on when you lift the hood?
Yep, comes with a hood pin switch, works great, very bright!
Can you give us some more pics of where the switch is and where the power wire hooks up?
That's where the hoodpin goes on 99-2007 trucks. The ground attaches to the hoodpin and the power wire is fused and goes to power at your junction box.
I do have LED's in the hood scoop White and I can switch them to Blue. They light up the bay good..
