So I removed my grille this w/e and painted it. It had that textured finish, so I sanded the whole thing smooth. Then I sanded the chrome down to a dull finish, Primed it with a plastic adhesion promoter primer, put 3 coats of victory red (rattle can) and 3 coats of clear. Next w/e I'm gonna pull it off again and wet sand / buff it. I think it looks much better. What'cha think?

Looks great! I did the same thing to my '89.
I had to argue with my wife and the paint guy that it would look cool - then we wacked a deer, and they all agreed I was right!

    Good job

Thanks guys. I was / am considering painting the billet grille black. How do you think that would look? I kinda like taking an aftermarket piece and personalizing it as long as it looks good.

I was thinking of doing something similar, but I have had no luck with plastic paints. Looks like it worked for you. Looks good. The billet , however, may be overkill.
