I own a 1994 Chevy Silverado ext cab 1500 350 Cuin TBI and I bought a SLR Performance chip for it. But the instructions that came with it are for an EFI version of my truck. It wants me to find the IAT sensor and splice the chip into the wires.

Did I get scammed? And if I did is there any kind of ECU mod that has proven to work for my model truck, cause I'm not finding anything anywhere.

BTW if it helps, I have a K@N FIPK fuel injection air intake and a dual magnaflow exuast on it. Has about 150k on it.

    Thanks for any help.

Performance chip for 1994 Silverado TBI

Ive seen the SLR chip advertised but dont know anything about em, but every 1990 to 1999 Silverardo that we modified had a replacement E-Prom (chip). We used TPIS or Z-Industries chips. They worked well and both companies have been around over twenty years.

I suspect you bought the little doo-dad that is supposed to fool the computer into always thinking that you always have cold air going throught the IAT sensor. It's not a 'performance chip' for the computer itself. You can advance your timing a bit on that engine for free. There is a black/tan wire that is the spark advance lead on the passenger side of the firewall. Unplug it at the connector with key off. You can then manually set your initial timing with a regular old timing light. Mine liked 3 degrees (stock was zero). After locking the distrib back down, turn the key off and plug the connector back in. You have just advanced your timing. 3 degrees was all that I could go and still run 87 octance gas. You could go more if you wanted to commit to better fuel.
