    They reviewed the top 6 pickups

    2013 Nissan Titan
    2013 Toyota Tundra
    2014 Chevrolet Silverado
    2014 GMC Sierra
    2013 Ram
    2013 F150

    For some reason the Sierra and Silverado performed quite differently when mechanically they are essentially the same truck.

    They knocked the interiors of some trucks but didn't say a word on the el-cheapo XLT interior. The 2013 XLT was as tested $44,800. Ridiculous price for Ford's mid level F150.

    All in all the F150 came out on top, why, I don't know. When I was bought my 2013 Silverado LTZ, I went and looked at the 2013 F150 XLT and found the interior to be cheap and plasticky. The interiors didn't start looking nice until you got to the Lariat. Not only that the Silverado in this shootout had the new MyLink system which is far superior to the push button radio Ford puts in the XLT.

    what a surprise... ford won, because they offered MORE OPTIONS!

    GM just build a $45,000 truck... now buy it, gawdamnit.

    but what if I want a- NOPE! we only offer a few packages.
    options means more individual union hours to install. f@*k that. just buy it.
    our company sucks X(

    The competition had nothing to do with who offered MORE OPTIONS, it had to do with:

    0-60 Acceleration
    60-0 Braking
    Mileage Drive
    Hill Climb
    Autocross (silly IMO)
    Payload and Towing (they basically took the manufacturer's word on it)

    Which one of those is the MORE OPTIONS category?

    You obviously have not went to "Build it" and seen all the options that you can choose from on a new Silverado.

    yeah, but if you can choose the engine you want that helps a lot.
    if you can choose individual things like "down hill braking assist" or "tow package gearing" that helps too...
    GM ust to be all about options...
    now its just about 2 or 3 "packages" which ad thousands to the sticker price...

    the average consumer isn't given the OPTION to buy/build the truck they want.
    the guy at the dealership laughed when I asked if they had any stick shifts... no longer an option

    I actually like the packages, you can get a lot of stuff for a lot less than ala-carte.

    Yes, manual transmission have not been offered in a full size truck in quite some time. IIRC, Ford, Ram, and Toyota no longer offer a manual either.

    I think it's ridiculous for Ram to offer 12 different trim levels and Ford to offer 10 different trim levels. Once the High Country is released, Chevrolet will offer 5.

    yeah... i saw one at our big annual car show....

    its so expensive, it should come with a washer-dryer and a new fridge
    it was so big and fancy, i though it had HOA fees

    Seeing as how a fully loaded 2014 LTZ Z71 Silverado tops out at about $52K, the High Country is going to be $56K at least.

    I agree, I wish I could individually pick all my trucks options n accessories. to get the big motor you have to pay out the a$$ for chrome plated plastic and more crap that usually has problems. I would be all over a '14 1500 RCSB Z71 4x4 with a 6.2l V8, 5 speed manual with factory dual exhaust and a Dana 44 under the front end. ohh and don't forget the 4.10 gears front and rear. when Chev gets their $h!t together and starts building these. I will buy new. until then, ill keep to my 04

    I cannot speak for the 2014 Silverado, but the 2013, you can get JUST the 6.2L engine without chrome plated stuff.

    Manual transmissions are not offered in full size trucks anymore.

    GM uses Eaton differentials, not Dana.

    With the 6 speed transmissions, 3.42 is the highest axle ratio you can get in a 1/2 ton. They want the trucks to get decent fuel economy.
