I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado Z-71 with 60k. At about 36,500 miles it developed a popping noise in the steering I took it to the dealership (sorry out of warranty) but they did look at it and siad the skid plate was loose and tightened it for free but it is now back. Does anyone know how to make this stop without taking it off or what could be causing this issue?

I have a 2007 Silverado LT 2500HD Crew Cab with 139,000 miles (highway). Same kind of popping noise under similar circumstances while turning at intersections etc.. Took a ride with dealer tech., He looked at the GM tech files and found references the "front body mount insulators" (frame to body mounts) that are right underneath your feet under the floorboard. It made since, based on what I am hearing and feeling, but I have not changed them yet, so I cannot confirm yet, but I think he may be correct.
