    Hello everyone,

My name is Tim I have a 1978 Silverado 4x4 and I am in the Army stationed at Ft Bliss, TX. My truck is a project truck, I have been working on the steering column, I put in a new procomp column and a new netural saftey switch. The dash lights and blinkers work but nothing is getting to the starter. Any help would be very helpful

    Welcome to the Club!!!

Unfortunately, I cannot help you with your problem, but I moved your thread and changed the title so that you will get faster and more responses vs the Member Introduction section. Good luck!

    Welcome to the GMTC.

I'd start with that neutral safety switch - if it's not lined up, it may not let it start.
Shift to neutral and try to start it (don't forget to set your brake) you can wiggle the shifter around and see if catches.
Check the small guage ground wire from the battery to the fender - used to get me.

    Go Army!

Thanks everyone I tried just about everything. I got the truck off a young kid who installed his own radio. Needless to say the wiring is a little messed up. I am going to tackle the wiring when I have some time. Any ideas on a good harness, I looked at painless and amercian wire. Will post a pic when I get a chance.

Did the truck work before the column change?
I've heard both of those companies are good, but I don't have any first-hand knowledge. Have you checked out LMC? lmctruck.com

It did work, but not like it should have. The column feel apart in my hands when I was driving, a little scary. All the wiring is all messed up, under the hood and everywhere else. I do not recommend buying anything from Procomp their customer services sucks. They do not return any calls or email. Just a heads up. I got a American wiring harness it was recommended by a couple of shops around the El Paso area. I looks pretty straight forward should be fun, I will post how easy or hard it was.
