Replacing Steering Wheel Controls

Hello, I am hoping someone can clarify something for me on my 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500. My "seek" audio control on my steering wheel backlight light has gone out and I was looking into replacing it. I know the switch has to be replaced as the bulb is soldered on. I can get the part for $25 which is cheap but the dealer wants $175 to replace it as they say the steering wheel has to be removed, is this true? I read online in a couple forums that you can pry these out with a small screwdriver and unplug the old and plug in the new and that's it (sounds simple). So not sure which is the correct way to replace these controls. Has anyone replaced these controls before. Any input would be helpful...Thanks in advance!!!!
