    Hey guys,
i asked about this before but didnt get too much info...but now i really need to get a new pair of front shocks and still am not 100% positive the length i need
i have a 2" leveling kit and 3" fabtech spindle lift.
my lift came with fabtech shocks part#FTS7332 which i just found out according to google is for dodges not my truck and i have had these on there since january 2009... no problems that i know of...other than one side on each of the bottom mount barpins stripping through the bolts... yikes!
all i need to know is with a 2" spacer and 3" spindle lift... will stock length shocks work or shocks that are 2" longer (which are a needle in the haystack to find) work? if i need shocks 2" longer then i cant find anything from bilstein :(
pretty sure after all that ive heard that the spindle doesnt change shock length at all
    thanks,
    kyle

Yep, the spindle doesn't affect the length of shock you need. Does Bilstein make a stock replacement for your truck? Bilsteins shocks usually have more travel than a factory shock so the stock replacement Bilstein should be fine.

    heres what i have...
    FTS7332 Specifications:
this is for 03-08 dodges with 2-3" spacer...on my truck
    Extended Length: 18.12"
    Collapsed Length: 11.71"
    Shock Travel: 6.41"
    Shock Body Diameter: 2.00"
    Finish: White Paint
    Upper Mount: S38
    Lower Mount: BP13
    Hardware Pack Included: YES PO1029

and i found this actually for bilstein which is STOCK WITHOUT LIFT

    • Bilstein 5100 Series Shock Absorber
    • Collapsed Length (IN): 11.3
    • Extended Length (IN): 17.58
    • Travel Length (IN): 6.28
    • Lower Mount: Bar pin
    • Upper Mount: Stem
    • Shaft Diameter: 14mm
this actually seems to match up to me as far as compressed and extended length...
    what do you think???
but now my question is... were these shocks i have even right in the first place???

There are alot of shocks that do interchange between differant manufactures with lift kits. If those shocks came with the Fabtech kit then most likely there the correct ones. I think those Bilsteins will be fine.

    okay thank you!
now what how would i know if a shock wasnt the right length??? i.e. extended too long/too short, compressed too long/too short?

Well we had all sorts of books that had the stock shock spec's and the aftermarket company books with there specs.

anyone have anything to say on:
    CST csr-1100 vs BILSTEIN 5100??
ive heard nothing bad about the 5100's but cant seem to find many reviews on the CST shocks... they do have longer travel though
