The 4.3L is behind the distributor on the air pipe.
The 5.0L is on the brake pedal bracket according to Mitchell.

The spark control module is forward of the glove box on my 85 C10. I'm swapping out SCM today.

Check the power and ground to the spark control module while it won't start. If you suspect a bad connection you can jump power or ground or both to the module as a test.

It Looks like a connection problem. if i reseat the connector on the SCM, the truck will usually start and run for a day or two, then dies again.
