Im going to be doing some head work on my 1995 C1500 with the 4.3l V6. While I have it apart im looking to replace the timing componets since I have over 240k miles on the truck. Im thinking about possably doing away with the chain and using the gears in place of the chain. My question is, is this somthing they make for the 4.3l? Also I would like to get a set tht makes that loud whinning sound. (It kinda sounds cool). Also would I have to modify anything on the engine for it to fit and does it need to be timed in a different way?

Thanks for your time and help all!

Comes either way noisy or quite here is a look see should be simple change. Only problem not supposed to be used on a vehicle with knock sensor.
Knock will pickup noise ecm will try to reset timing ect. www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G6700/

I wouldn't bother. Just get a decent double-roller timing chain.

Timing gears are NOT desired on any vehicle with a knock sensor. The vibrations/resonance from the gear drive will cause the knock sensor to tell the ECM to pull timing -- it'll never run right. Timing gears sets are for vehicles without knock sensors.
